DESCRIPTION:Women business owners may be missing opportunities to sell products and services to government agencies. In fact\, there are many private and public sector contracts available across a variety of industries. \nAre you maximizing your profits by taking advantage of these contracts? \nTo help provide a level playing field\, the government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the women’s contracting program. Ree Wachett from the Stony Brook Small Business Development Center will present information about the certifications that are available. Learn how to access contracts once you become a certified business\, and pick up some tips for successfully winning contract bids. \nThis information can provide your business with more visibility and open many new doors. \nTake your business to the next level! Join us to learn about available certifications and the process involved. \nPresenter : Ree Wackett\, SBU Small Business Development Center \n Ree Wachett joined the Stony Brook University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in 2012 after a ten-year tenure at the Farmingdale State College SBDC. While at Farmingdale she authored both Business Basics and The Business Plan Guide and was the center’s grant writer. Ree is an advanced certified business advisor\, and while well versed in all sectors\, she specializes in women entrepreneurs\, procurement\, international trade and child care. As an avid and enthusiastic member of the small business community\, she was honored by Long Island Business News in 2008 as one of the “Top 40 under 40” people in business. She was again honored in 2009 as the Valedictorian of her “40 under 40” class.
